What Acieon Labs is, how it relates to Sleepaxa, and the science and intellectual property behind the work.

Last updated: June 2026

What is Acieon Labs?
Acieon Labs is the research and intellectual property division of Sleepaxa Private Limited. It develops and holds the patent portfolio behind wavelength-selective ophthalmic lenses, and it studies how light reaches the human circadian system through intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells.
How does Acieon Labs relate to Sleepaxa?
Sleepaxa Private Limited is the parent company. It operates two divisions. Sleepaxa is the product division for photobiological eyewear. Acieon Labs is the research and intellectual property division that conducts the science and holds the patents. Acieon Labs does not sell products.
What is the guiding principle of Acieon Labs?
Every photon works for the human eye. Filtration should be selective rather than blunt, preserving beneficial daytime light while attenuating the evening wavelengths that reach the circadian clock at the wrong hour and suppress melatonin.
What are intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells?
They are a small class of retinal neurons that contain the photopigment melanopsin and respond directly to light. They project through the retinohypothalamic tract to the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the master circadian clock, and they regulate non-visual responses to light such as melatonin timing.
What is melanopsin?
Melanopsin is the photopigment expressed in intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells. Its intrinsic light response peaks in the short-wavelength region near 480 nanometres, which is why short-wavelength evening light has a strong effect on the circadian system.
How many patents does Acieon Labs hold?
Six inventions are in the portfolio. One is granted, Patent Number 587746, with all ten claims allowed. Five applications are pending before the Indian Patent Office. Each is identified by its official application number on the Patents page.
Is NeuroCalm FLX+ an FL-41 lens?
No. NeuroCalm FLX+ is built on an independent dual-band spectral architecture defined by its own transmission profile. It is not a derivative of the single-band FL-41 rose tint. The architecture is protected under granted Patent Number 587746.
Where can the published research be found?
The research corpus is deposited on Zenodo as nine works, each with a resolving DOI. The Publications page lists every title and links to its DOI record.
Are the external researchers independent?
Yes. The clinical advisor and the contributing researchers listed on the Researchers page contribute independently. Their affiliations and ORCID identifiers are shown on their profiles.
